This means that the state of Oklahoma no longer has authority over the residents of the tribes, and thus, they cannot enforce state laws against tribal members. Although some tribes still retain authority over their own members, they no longer have the right to regulate activities within the reservation boundary. This is the result of a federal court ruling in 2016.

The decision of the Supreme Court did not apply to the Choctaw Nation, which was already under the control of tribal law enforcement. But the other tribes were pleased that the decision clarified the legal status of their tribal lands. The Muscogee (Creek) and Seminole tribes have been under federal control since their original acquisition by purchase from the United States government.

Many people believe that this ruling will open the doors to the region’s economic growth and create more opportunities for tribal members. Tribal leaders hope this new economic development will lead to jobs and better education for their community members. The Muscogee (Creek) tribe, which has its headquarters in Okmulgee, Okla., sued the U.S. government over control of land claims in the region in the early 1900s. The case was decided by the U.S. Supreme Court in 1960, and the Muscogee (Creek) tribe won control of lands along the Arkansas River Valley in central Oklahoma.

The Supreme Court ruling gives them the opportunity to exercise jurisdiction over criminal cases involving tribal members. This will allow tribal members to receive justice within the tribal courts instead of having to face the same punishment as non-tribal residents. Many tribal citizens were pleased that they would be given more rights. However, they also expressed concern about the increased burden on tribal resources. The Supreme Court ruling has also resulted in an increase in federal involvement in tribal issues. The Supreme Court has stated that state and local governments will no longer have authority in tribal matters. The court also ruled that the United States government should pay for the added expenses related to the new jurisdiction.
