Most of the houses in Archer Heights were built around 1910–1915.  In 1950, the area became a community housing project known as Southwestern Community Development Area, which later became Archer Heights.  The area became a Chicago Police community area in 1973, and the area has since been named Archer Heights.  This name was given because the area is near the intersection of Archer Avenue and McKinley Street.

In 1960, the neighborhood had 3,000 residents. Today, it has 21,400 residents.

The neighborhood is served by two local and one commuter railway station.

Archer Avenue runs from south of Chicago’s downtown area, through the southwest side of Chicago and beyond into the southwest suburbs, along what was once a Native American trail.  The neighborhood is bounded by the Stevenson Expressway to the north, the CTA Orange Line to the south, the Corwith railyard to the east, and the railroad tracks/Knox Avenue to the west.

Archer Heights is a community area and includes a number of distinct communities:  Archer Heights, Austin Boulevard, West Belmont, and Granville.

Archer Heights is located in the Chicago southwest side, just north of the Austin Boulevard community. 

Archer Heights is named for Chicago’s first mayor, Daniel Archer. Archer was elected mayor in 1845.

Archer Heights has a population of over 22,000. It is part of the City of Chicago.

Archer Avenue is known for its ethnic and cultural diversity. Archer Avenue is known for being the center of the Latino community in Chicago. It is a place where different cultures meet and mingle. This is why it is so dangerous for pedestrians to walk on Archer Avenue. Cars and trucks are speeding down the street. In addition, some of them are turning left, which can be very dangerous. If you are walking along Archer Avenue, you must be aware of your surroundings. You must be prepared for anything. Don’t just stand there. Make sure that you are watching out for the cars and trucks that are traveling at high speeds. You should stay away from the car lanes and from the intersection with Knox Avenue.

Archer Avenue is located on the south side of Chicago. It runs from the Stevenson Expressway in the south to the Chicago & Alton Railroad in the north. It is called the “Black Metropolis.” Archer Avenue is a street filled with stores, restaurants, and nightclubs. This is a great place to go out to eat, have fun, shop, and enjoy yourself. This is a very busy and lively area. If you want to go shopping, you should visit this area. You’ll find many shops, stores, and boutiques there. It’s also a very interesting place to visit. You can meet a lot of new people there.
